Studio Opening and First Event

We have finally opened! After more than a year of:

See the design by Tigran Kostandyan and Farah Alkhoury

  • Architects
  • Permits
  • Contractors
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning—no resolution
  • HVAC—still no resolution
  • HVAC—alas, no resolution whatsoever
  • Inspections
  • More electrical and plumbing
  • Final inspections

We received our certificate of business from the Hastings on Hudson village. Hallelujah.

Thank you to all the people who helped make this happen! Everyone did a great job and the studio is beautiful. We brought in some printers and received our desks today, as well as an amp for music and a garbage can for the kitchen. More stuff coming tomorrow. I hope we can get some artwork on the walls soon.
On Sunday, Feb 26, we held our opening event: a fine art salon in our studio that followed a talk at Upstream Gallery (across the street) with Dave Shelley, co-founder of Photoville. The salon was well attended and we received great feedback. Several artists showed work, some for the first time, and I think it was a positive experience for everyone. As the afternoon turned to evening, pizza helped keep us going. Yay for pizza.

So where do we go from here? We’re already printing and framing for customers, so that’s good. Besides that, we’re settling in and starting to prepare for our grand opening exhibition and book signing, which we plan to hold in September. Stay tuned.
